Underground Reservoir

Visited with The Lone Ranger & Dan.

Built in 1963, the reservoir is roughly 40m wide, 40m long and 5.4m high.

With its thick concrete walls, it was designed to store up to 12 million litres of water in case of a water shortage but it was never used by United Utilities, which now manages the North West’s water supply.

After an earlier FAIL, we decided to check this one out on the way to our next destination. I had tried to locate it a few weeks before and missed it by only 500 yards :banghead. Anyway another look at teh maps and I sound worked out the location.
What I expected to be a short mooch turned out slightly longer, as lighting this place is a right bitch :D
