Since spreading its wings in February 1998 Antony Gormley's The Angel of the North has become one of the most talked about pieces of public art ever produced.
Made from 200 tonnes of steel and rising 20m with a wingspan of 54m, the Angel dominates the skyline, and can be seen from miles around.
And so it was, the North East and the Angel Of the North..
It has been something I had wanted to do ever since Stepping Lightly showed me his pics about 2 years ago after free climbing the structure and standing on the head (notworthy).
Massive props to Bigjobs for driving and rigging and Squirrell for grabbing the pics on one of the coldest nights in a good while :)
Getting up close and personal with the Angel
is an experience I'll never forget ;)
