Lymm Air Raid Shelter

Ojay/Lawrence...

To be honest I've never bothered with this place as everyone said it's not all that good, and in all fairness it isn't!

Still it's interesting and worth a look if your in the area none the less..

It was Lawrence who decided we should go and do some digging and see what else the place has to offer, as it turns out fuck all, as the only remaining connecting tunnel has been back filled with a metric fuck tonne of concrete.

Despite the lack of ANY history, common sense tells me it was a private shelter serving the long gone estate behind the dam, which clearly the 'creted up tunnel extended to once upon a time.

On with a few pics...

Entrance/Connecting Tunnel

Through an unusual stone slab door was this smaller room,
with a table and benches carved out of the sandstone

Round the corner from the entrance an 'L Shape' tunnel split into two, one way to a smaller room which is bricked up leading to the outside.

THIS, the other leads upto the much older larger tunnel

Emergency Escape Shaft

Main tunnel

This would have once led beyond the dam,
probably to the once private estate behind, now capped & backfilled
