"100 of the best from Belgium, NL, UK, Germany, the US, Italy, Canada, Australia and Sweden thrown together in the sewer sluge, devoid of the bullshit and drama for an epic weekend of blacktie Freshness. One of the best"
Shouts to Dsankt, Otter & crew
for making this happen!
for making this happen!
For me the journey started at 04:50am having discovered my passport had expired the night before FFS!
The first leg of my journey was a 9am appointment with Her Majesty's Immigration in Peterborough.
150 miles later, talk about a fucking time warp..
Free latte/Wi-Fi and a decent shit in restaurant M it was time to leave this shit-hole for leg 2 of the epic weekend trip.
Leg 2 - 150 miles further on and I finally arrived at Spungletwat HQ
Having swapped cars and cramming in all the shizzle we needed it was off to meet Urbanity somewhere in Swindon.
We swapped cars again, this time it was Urbanity's turn to drive, via Redhill to pick up Marc Explo before even more driving to Dover for the cross channel ferry.
(Quids in with the fare, the only downside we arrived at Dunkirk later then the rest of the crew)
After eventually arriving in Antwerp it was now quite late, our destination the Pre-IDM party in the Pre-Metro.
The 'old way in' wasn't happening and we were now attracting some unwanted attention, we tried to make various phone calls before Marc Explo recieved the up-to-date intel.
Along came Danny Pack to meet & greet us, if only we had been 10 minutes earlier.. The place was now crawling with track workers who had turned up en mass and began welding tracks right next to the manhole :D
With only a small window we descended into the bowels of the Pre-Metro to join the party.
Priority number one, pitch up sleeping bag and commence getting pissed with 40+ of the craziest motherfuckers I ever did meet!
Now gone 4am we had run out of beer,
so decided to go for a mooch as you do
so decided to go for a mooch as you do
The next morning 40+ made our exit amongst confused track workers and locals :D
Sadly around 4 of them had their cars towed, so Urbanity chauffeured them about for most of the day. whilst the rest of us had some scram before eventually splitting and going our separate ways.
They were all off here, we never worked it out on foot so me and Spungletwat spent the rest of the afternoon mooching about Antwerp and generally getting upto no good.
Pre-Metro - Topside
Sewer Pumping Station..
Restaurant M for an appointment with L.Carrott
Finally meeting back with Urbanity , suddenly the rest arrived at the pub across the road WIN0R
Several litres of Antwerps finest and we decided we would go and check out some local shizzle before needing to get ready for the main IDM event..
(Shouts to OliGT, Fishbrain & Guerilla Exploring for the heads up)
We spent a good while mooching about the Chamber de Commerce, sadly no pics as it was dark and I had no tripod.
We did plan to come back the following morning for daylight but in the end was too pissed and ran out of time :(
Time to find somewhere suitable to park for the evening,
don those wad0ns and crack open a Kronie
After meeting the rest of the crew at a local Irish bar it was time to head out into sewerZ
One by one we descended into the Antwerp Ruien
"The Ruien were a series of natural ditches within Antwerp that connected to the river Scheldt, these ditches would fill during high tide and empty when it receded. Since the medieval period they served several uses, as a form of defence, a trade and travel route for boats and also as an open sewer".
Pure comedy ensued as for some reason we lost Otter & Dsankt
and ALL headed the wrong way, 5km later..
Eventually we made it..
It all gets a bit blurry from here on in) :D
Drain0rs
>>SPEECH<<
Alternative access FAIL
Eventually the party wound down and we made it out in the early hours.
The idea was to get our head down,
but the Winch decided he was gonna climb an epic waffle van
but the Winch decided he was gonna climb an epic waffle van
No sooner did he climb back down, and Bradley L. Garrett decided to clamber up some scaff and become a human banner.
(I must add we were all completely pissed by this point and could barely walk straight)
Fuck it, up I went just as Police drove on by, I think the suit threw them..
(I have no idea what this was, but still it was a good laugh)
After seeing them off to the hotel I made my way back to the car park to meet up with Spungletrumpet & Urbanity, still covered in fresh I peeled the remains of my now destroyed waders off and we decided to head back to the Pre-Metro to grab a few hours kip, in preparation for the drive back to Dunkirk to catch the 12 O'Clock ferry...
...So Urbanity woke us up about 9:30am, somehow I managed to pack up half asleep and dead on my feet we proceeded to make our way to the manhole once again with the sounds of track workers clanging about above.
As Marc Explo climbed up all I remember hearing was "Fuck"
The fuckers had only gone and sealed us in!!!!
There was only one other real exit option without any SRT gear and I wasn't up for any more walking!
>>Escape From Antderp<<
So we arrived at Dunkirk LATE, missed the 12 O' Clock ferry and had to wait around until 2pm..
Cue the Mackerel/Beef Curry/Kronie.
2pm and were Outta Here
UK
..And on with an epic 5 hour (3 leg) drive back home
I met some truly amazing people along the way, and I was most definitely ruined by Antwerp
GOODTIMES!
